Juan Antonio Flecha dorsal number 1
of the Monção and Melgaço Granfondo

Would there be a better way to mark the debut edition of Monção and Melgaço Granfondo than to have as number 1 dorsal one of the greatest riders of the classics of the North? At Bikeservice we believe not, hence our choice fell on the inimitable Juan Antonio Flecha.

A pavé expert, he finished three times in the Paris-Roubaix podium, in a total of eight times in the top-10, and with a third place in the Tour of Flanders. He rode for teams like iBanesto, Sky or Rabobank, winning a stage in the Tour de France.

Retired at the end of 2013, the native of Buenos Aires but of Spanish nationality became commentator of the Eurosport International, maintaining the levels of popularity that he had as a cyclist.

Monção and Melgaço Granfondo by Trek was presented between champions

The Melgaço Sports Center, where several of the best Portuguese football teams prepare in the pre-season, was the stage for the presentation of the Monção and Melgaço Granfondo by Trek on December 29th. A place for champions and that received some of them from two wheels: the recently retired Rui Sousa, former national and sympathy champion, and Oscar Pereiro, winner of the Tour de France, were two of them. Among the many prominent presences, including local authorities and Bikeservice, organizer of the event, stood out the representative of the Secretary of State for Tourism, Ana Mendes.
The Monção and Melgaço Granfondo by Trek will be held on September 23, 2018. Participants will have three courses to choose from: Granfondo (145 km), Mediofondo (100 km) and Minifondo (60 km).
