Monção e Melgaço Granfondo by Trek 2019:
the second drink promises more and better!

The second drink of an exceptional vintage will be served on September 22, 2019. With departure and arrival in Melgaço and passing through the other capital of the county that gives name to the sub-region that is the birthplace of Alvarinho Wine, the second edition of the Monção and Melgaço Granfondo by Trek promises to be a milestone in the history of cycling for all.

After a debut edition that has surpassed the best expectations, with two thousand enthusiasts of the best combination that cycling and nature have to offer, this return to the green and great scenarios of the Alto Minho is like a redefinition of this kind of events: three challenging courses designed to fit everyone’s requirements and abilities, breathtaking landscapes and a highly professional organization in a family environment, as is the rule in Bikeservice events. In other words, all that is intended of a Granfondo, where there is not even missing a new and hard climb to “Muro da Rosa”, 4 km at an average slope of 9.8%!

If there are places in Portugal that deserve to be known on two wheels, the sub-region of Monção and Melgaço is certainly privileged ground for a Granfondo, providing a cultural, gastronomic and landscape richness difficult to match. The vineyards of Alvarinho fill the landscape and frame the three routes we propose: Granfondo (130 km), Mediofondo (106 km) and Minifondo (75 km); Alvarinho himself and all the culture and economy that flourished around him would be more than enough reasons to get to know that privileged corner of the Minho valley, an authentic balcony overlooking the neighboring Galicia, whose cycling tradition will bring back many riders to this side of the border, to our great event.

On September 22 it will be possible to meet in the first person the nobility that characterizes the people and also the most famous product of the sub-region of Monção and Melgaço. The Monção and Melgaço Granfondo by Trek 2019 will be an unforgettable experience, as much as a drink from Alvarinho, the noblest of green wines.
